How It Works

NFL Season Format

Regular Season

32 teams play an 18-week schedule (17 games each, 1 bye week). Teams are divided into 2 conferences (AFC & NFC), each with 4 divisions of 4 teams.

Who Makes the Playoffs

14 teams qualify — 7 from each conference:

  • 4 division winners (best record in each division)
  • 3 wild cards (best remaining records)

The #1 seed in each conference earns a first-round bye.

All playoff games are single elimination. Higher seed hosts.

How the Draft Works

Auction Format

This is a live auction draft — not a snake draft. Every team is available to every bidder. The highest bid wins the team.

Budget & Roster

Bidders8
Budget per bidder$200
Teams per bidder4
Minimum bid$1
Bid increments$1

Nomination & Bidding

Nomination order rotates clockwise (determined by dice roll). When you nominate, you name a team and the opening bid. All bidders can bid. A 30-second timer counts down — when it hits zero, the highest bidder wins the team.

Max Wager Rule

You must reserve $1 for each remaining roster slot. If you have $150 left and need 2 more teams, your max bid is $149 (saving $1 for the last pick).

Scoring

Each bidder's score is the sum of all points earned across their 4 teams. Points accumulate throughout the regular season and playoffs.

Capture rate = points earned / point ceiling. A team scoring 20 of 31 possible points has a 65% capture rate — that's the efficiency metric on the leaderboard.
Season Timeline
Pre-Season (Aug)

Live auction draft. Bidders assemble their 4-team portfolios. Strategy matters — team strength, playoff odds, bye week stacking, and schedule overlap all factor into optimal bids.

Regular Season (Sep – Jan)

18 weeks of games. Points accumulate with each win. Star frame bonuses reward portfolios where all 4 teams win together. The leaderboard updates weekly.

Playoffs (Jan – Feb)

Playoff bonuses stack heavily. The conference championship (+4) and Super Bowl (+7) can swing the leaderboard dramatically. A single team going on a deep run can decide the winner.
